Alex is an arriero. He's also a school kid (final year, aged 17), working all hours to save up cash to go to university in Cusco. He can find you pack horses for treks starting from Ollantaytambo, and work as your arriero to keep these horses under control. He could also guide - he knows the local hills - and I'm sure a future beckons for him as a guide.
