Description

We did a tour of the Uros islands and Isla Taquile. Costs were s/35 to the agency for bus transfer to ferry, ferry ride and guide (who was excellent, speaking French, English, Spanish, Quechua and Aramaya as well as being very friendly and helpful). Other costs were s/3+5 for island entries, s/5 for a reed boat ride, s/12 for a local lunch on Taquile. The itinerary takes you to Uros where villagers explain their culture, history and close association with the reeds, then to Taquile, which is maintained as a traditional Inca weaving village, albeit quite a touristy one! On Taquile we were shown traditional weaving techniques and were told about the traditional dress colours and meanings.
Best bits: Great tour with genuinely enthusiastic guide who grew up in Puno.
Worst bits: Lake Titicaca is quite cold for the evening ride home.
