Description

Jose took my girlfreind and I from Lares to Machu Picchu. The guides set up camp, cooked and carried the bulk of our gear and Jose guided us and educated us on the surrounding in a freindly and fun manner. He was patient and understanding with us at altitude and allowed us plenty of time to take in the scenery but also knew when we had to rush.

Best bits: Remote beautiful scenery and service of Jose and freinds

Jose is a very lay back person, easygoing and unobtrusive.
He is helpful for any needs and has a strong passion for Inca culture. During the time spent with us he was always willing to answer all our questions about Peruvian life and culture!
If I should give him a vote ... I will promote him with a 9!!!

Description

Jose showed us all throughout the sacred valley as well as helped us book a hostel in Cusco, plane tickets to Lima, and recommended and dined with us at the best restaurant in town. He secured trekking poles for our Macchu Picchu trek, and was a true guide and friend.

Best bits: His knowledge was extraordinary and his english was flawless. He knew all the right places to go, what time of day to go and how to get there. He also was more than willing to meet us at off hours and was thoughtful and helpful with all requests.
Worst bits: Nothing, Jose is a great guide and well informed and proud Peruvian.

Description

My wife and I went on an 8 day trek from Cachora to Machu Picchu stopping at Choquequirao on the way.

Best bits: The ruins at Choquequirao were beautiful as were the llamas built into the terraces there. The two day hike to get to the park was difficult even though we were on pretty good shape. Machu Picchu was wonderful as was the climb up Huayna Picchu to see the site from above. Jose was an excellent guide and HE was also a " highlight". We loved going out to dinner with him at Aguascalientes and his knowledge of the Inca culture and the trails.
Worst bits: Mosquitos and biting flies one day. Otherwise we had no problems and Jose took care of everything.

We loved Jose. His English is quite good, and e fact that he also spoke Spanish and Chechuan was helpful. We had no worries and trusted him completely. He took great pictures of us at beautiful spots along the trail. He is a good man and we missed him when we split off to go to the Sacred Valley on our own.
