Marco Magri

Description:

Marco is Italian, and has settled in Peru. For the last five years, he has nurtured and run Villa Los Loros (Villa of the Parrots), an exclusive villa providing good access to a Choquequirao trek that passes through the Huanipaca valley.

Marco is hence not strictly a local, but his project brings the only tourism into that area and he employs local staff for the restaurant, his grounds and his trekking teams.

And all that said, Villa Las Loros is beautiful, with nice food, and so a fantastic place to relax and unwind after doing the hard work of walking to and from Choquequirao.

Description

We emerged out of a 12-day hike through the Vilcabamba, tired, dirty, sweaty, hungry. Plus it was Richard's birthday and we'd run our of food and there wasn't a bar in sight. Then we stumbled on Villa Las Loros - a faint hope that we'd held out for, having seen it last year, but not stopped. This time we definitely stopped! and it was a paradise. Marco is a consumate host and the accomodation, showers, food, drinks, table football, grounds and out-and-out ambience were all excellent!
