Simon Friday spent 2-5 hours with Americo at BikingPeruTrek.
Description
My friend and I wanted to do an independent circuit of Ausangate by mountain bike. We're both keen bikers at home in the UK, so went looking for bikes of both reasonable performance and reliability.
Americo's bikes were the best we found and he was happy to let us take them off for 4 days to do the circuit.
This is Peru: bikes will never be awesome. Americo's bikes stood out for:
- being well maintained
- reliable Alivio groupset
- bomber strong X233 rims
- big Maxxis tyres
- decent cable disk brakes
- solid bearings
We needed to tweak a few things before departure and Americo was most helpful, ensuring everything was just so and the bikes in top quality.
The bikes were US$12 each per day - excellent value compared to hire in Europe.
