Description:
Activities available...Lourdes and her helpers offer a short guided tour through the forest and along a river. They talk about the trees and plants and then show you how they clean the cotton, dye it from plants, leaves, bark and mud. They demonstrate the procedure from start to the finish. The after lunch they show you how the masks are made and from the different woods, also from start to finish.
Their items can be purchased.
How long it takes...Night stays are available but you can go for the tour and lunch within 3 hours.
Who it's appropriate for...The walk is very gentle and stops are in shade for more informative talks about the forest. The tour can be enjoyed by all ages. The lunch is a typical Costa Rica dish and it is fabulous.
Details of costs...The tour and lunch is approximately $25.00 each and night stays can be arranged.

Description
We had a fabulous tour with the Buruca people. They showed us how the cotton was prepared, dyed and made into bags, scarves and sashes. It was very interesting to see what plants were used for the different colors. The lunch was super good and filling. Amazing to see how much detailing was carved into the wood for the masks and with such ease. Loved it.
