2nd. Day: Challenging

After breakfast we continue going up until the top of the mountain, the area called "Sicllacc'asa" (4,300 m.a.s.l.) we ask to the mountains all our wishes, we descend having a great views of nice lagoons from melt of glaciers having lunch at "Yanacocha" lagoon then arriving to Cuncani community (alpaca's breeders) where we spend the night.

Early breakfast to catch the first bus to the archealogical site in order to get tickets to climb "Huaynapicchu" then visiting Machupicchu between 2 hours, after everything we must take the train back to Ollantaytambo.

How long it takes...
The Lares Trek took us 4 days, including Macchu Piccu and Hot Springs.

Who it's appropriate for...
The trek was quite hard work, paticularly the second day when you reach quite high altitudes, but absolutely worth it. The Lares Trek is not as well known as the Inca which makes it a lot quieter and is completely unspoilt.

Description

Yoseline guided us on the Lares Trek, where we trekked from near Ollantaytambo, over the mountains, down to Lares town where there were well-needed hot springs.

Best bits: The scenary, Yoseline, the hot springs, the pancakes for breakfast surrounded by llamas,
Worst bits: Was very challenging on the second day, but worth it.
