Inappropriate / Inaccurate? Benito Juárez Market and the 20 de Noviembre Market

Description:

Whether it's a flying angel head, a handmade rug, tradtional blouse, knitted handbag, Oaxaca quesillo (cheese)or fried grasshoppers that you’re after, this market is for you!

I would suggest putting a few hours aside so that you have time to sit and taste the freshly made neive (akin to sorbet). Delicious flavours like burnt milk with cactus fruit. Titles adorn the menus like "beso de angel" = kiss of an angel. Follow this by sampling the various rich chocolates and flavoured nuts at nearby stalls. Dip your hand into the local sweets filled with custard and lined with strawberries.

This is a market appropriate for everyone, as there is such diversity of product. Inside you step into fresh produce, vegetables, nuts, fruits, sweets and juices and outside you can browse for the latest DVDs or religious paraphanelia.

Prices vary and bargaining is not uncommon at the sidestalls. Food prices are generally not negotiable. A double scoop icecream that will fill you to the brim is 30pesos (around 2.5US dollars). You can find scarfs for the same price, bags for the same price. The prices are affordable and you certainly don't feel ripped off at the end of the journey. Cost depends on how much you can spend!

Description

Sampled the local icecream and local drinks mixed with fresh nuts and melons. Browsed the many different stalls for movies, handmade rugs, trinkets, jewelry and fresh produce. Tried on traditional clothing, bags adorned with Mexican artists and nibbled on sweets laced with custard and fruit.
