But let us tell you that the beaches in Dallas are actually one of the City’s best kept secrets.

In Dallas, and the surrounding beaches, you actually might find some of the most visually stunning you’ve seen in your life.

If you’re planning a trip to Dallas during the summer time, then we’d most definitely recommend that you head over to one of these spots, as you’re guaranteed to have an enjoyable and relaxing experience.

Below, we’ve compiled what we believe to be some of the very best beaches in the whole of Dallas, as well as ones in the nearby surrounding areas.

1. Joe Pool Lake Recreation Area

If you’re looking for a beach that’s incredibly family friendly, and can provide a fun time for the kids, then we’d recommend that you look into Joe Pool Lake Recreation area, which can be found in Grand Prairie.

It not only boasts the most gorgeous shoreline, but it has tons of activities that you can take part in.

This makes it a great place to visit if you want to spend the entire day simply reclining and taking part in fun things throughout the day.

It’s got a volleyball court, so if you want to play a little game while you’re there, it’s easy to take part.

If you want to spend an extended period of time there too, you can sit down for a nice lunch at one of their picnic tables, as they have quite a few there.

In addition, there’s a concession stand for when you’re feeling peckish, and there’s a ship themed playground that your kids can play on.

We’d recommend that if you are planning on coming to Pool Lake to spend a day at the beach, that you get here early in the morning, as it does tend to get quite crowded.

It’s one of the best beaches in Dallas, which is why it’s so popular. Arrive in plenty of time to secure a good spot.

2. Lynn Creek Park

All you have to do is glance at this beautiful beach in photographs, and you’ll already know what a beautiful space it is.

If you want to visit somewhere incredibly scenic, then we’d recommend Lynn Creek Park.

In fact, it almost sounds a bit too good to be true, seeing as it’s so very beautiful, and it’s only a half hour drive from the center of Dallas.

This means that you can take part in all the fun activities happening in the hustle and bustle of the city center, then head over to the beach for the most relaxing afternoon imaginable.

It’s an incredibly expansive beach, so we don’t think that you’ll struggle to find a spot to sunbathe in.

If you don’t feel like lazing about all day, don’t worry, because there are plenty of activities to do whilst you’re here.

You can have fun playing on one of the volleyball courts, or why not cook up a barbecue to share with your friends and family on one of the stands.

If you love picnicking, there are lots of grassy areas nearby too, so that you don’t have to worry about getting any of your sandwiches covered in sand!

There are also two boat ramps, along with a mirena if you feel like venturing out deeper into the waters.

3. Collin Park

Collin Park is another glorious beach that you’ll find located near the center of Dallas, so be sure to put this one on your list if you’re planning on visiting anytime soon.

It has one of the longest lakes that you’ll find in the region, and it’s incredibly beautiful to look at.

This beach is great for those who love the great outdoors, as it has plenty of activities that you can take part in.

If you feel like stretching your legs, why not take part in one of their hiking trails, there are lots that you can follow in the area.

If camping is your thing, there are lots of places next to the grass on the shoreline that you can chill out on.

Bear in mind, however, that you will need to pay a fee of 35 dollars if you plan on camping here. For the gorgeous views, we’d say that it’s well worth the small fee.

If you feel like playing a little bit of volleyball whilst you’re here with your friends, there is a court that you can use to enjoy.

Because the beach itself is so long, there are plenty of places that you can sunbathe on whilst you’re here.

4. Pebble Beach Park

If you’re looking for another gorgeous beach to visit, why not check out Pebble Beach Park, which is located in Nevada?

If you’re looking for a super relaxing, lake based beach, then we’d say that this is one of the very best that the region has to offer.

It’s got plenty of gorgeous lake views, so you can simply lie back in the sand and enjoy the beauty of the area in total relaxation.

It’s age friendly, so you can bring along the kids too.

They have a boat ramp that you can use if you feel like it, as well as some large picnic tables so you can chow down on some food.

Be careful when you visit here and that you keep an eye on your kids, as there are actually no lifeguards in the surrounding area, so it’s best to practice caution here.

5. Tickey Creek Park

If you’re looking for a beach that’s truly secluded, and will allow you to escape from all of the hustle and bustle of the crowds, then we’d recommend that you check out Tickey Creek park, which is one of the lesser well known beaches in the area.

The reason why Tickey Creek Park receives fewer visitors than the others on our list is because it’s slightly more difficult to get to.

It’s only accessible if you take the dirt road, which puts some people off from coming.

It is, however, a great adventure, and is the perfect beach if you plan on going on a road trip with some friends.

It’s in total seclusion, and one of the best things about this is that you don’t have to pay a fee to park nearby.

The water is incredibly tranquil, so you don’t have to worry about any unruly waves whilst you’re here, you can just enjoy having a relaxing time dipping yourself into the water.

Whilst there are picnic tables to sit on to enjoy your lunch, and restrooms located nearby, there are no other amenities to be found.

This means that it’s important to bring some food along when you come here, and some other bits of entertainment if you feel like it.

This beach is fantastic if you want somewhere far from the hustle and bustle of the city, where you can simply relax and unwind.

6. Little Elm Park

Little Elm Park is a gorgeous place to visit to relax and gaze at the beautiful sunset.

It’s actually picture perfect, and we can imagine this beach being used as a setting in a movie scene.

One of the best things about this beach is that it’s not actually that far away from the city center either.

You can expect to drive for approximately 45 minutes until you arrive at this gorgeous destination.

One of the best things about this beach is that it actually has one of the largest swimming areas in the whole of Texas (Check out some Fun Facts About Texas).

This makes it a great place to visit for those who love to roam around in the waters. If need be, you can ask for a life vest to protect yourself when you head out.

If you want to head out to the waters, you can also rent a kayak and roam around exploring.

In addition to this, you can also rent paddleboards, and this beach is the perfect place to give this activity a try.

You and your friends can have fun sharing some laughs if you try to stand up on your board.

As well as this, the park also has a big playground that the kids can enjoy.

This means that there will be plenty to keep them entertained whilst you enjoy relaxing on the sand.

As the weather grows cooler as the sky darkens outside, don’t worry, because you can keep yourself warm by using one of the many fire pits that the beach has to offer.

There is also an amphitheater located nearby for entertainment, as well as a volleyball court so you can have some fun playing a game with some friends.

If biking or hiking is your thing, not to worry, because there are plenty of trails that you can take while you’re here to get some much needed exercise.

In addition to this, you don’t need to worry if you’ve forgotten to bring food or drinks, as there is a Lighthouse Grill located nearby.

This place serves up some of the best burgers in town, and is sure to keep you satiated.

There are also plenty of beverages served here too, so if you need a cold beer to combat the summer heat, you’ll find it here.

Depending on the time of year that you’re planning to visit, make sure that you check out their schedule online.

This is because you could find yourself in the midst of one of their festivals, which are incredibly fun and entertaining for the whole family.

These festivals take place across all the four seasons, including Autumn and Winter.

7. Meadowmere Park

This beachy destination is just as idyllic as it sounds, and we don’t think that we’ve found a prettier name for a beach than Meadowmere Park.

Don’t let the peaceful name fool you though, as this is actually considered to be one of the most entertaining and eventful beaches on our list.

In fact, we don’t think that you’ll believe us when we say that it has a full fledged obstacle course out on the waters, but we promise it does!

It’s actually the largest aquatic obstacle course in the whole of Texas, so as you can imagine, it’s colossal. Be sure to give it a try if you’re feeling lucky.

There is an age restriction on the course, and children below the age of 7 aren’t allowed to compete.

There is however a shallow water area that’s suitable for younger children.

When you arrive, you’ll actually find that it’s mostly adults taking part in this fun obstacle course.

One of the best things about this place is that it doesn’t actually take that long to get to.

You can expect to drive for approximately 40 minutes from the center of Dallas to arrive at this super fun beach area.

If you feel like taking part in more water based activities, then this is the perfect place to do so.

You can enjoy renting a kayak to head out into the waters, or a paddleboard if that’s more your thing.

If you want to play some games on the shore, then you can rent a few whilst you’re there too.

If you want to take a hike, there are a few trails that you can go on too, and you’ll enjoy taking in all of the beautiful views on the way.

In addition to this, you’ll also find lots of picnic tables nearby so that you can enjoy eating your packed lunch.

These all have umbrellas overhead, and so are a great place to retreat when the weather gets too hot.

8. Lewisville Lake Park

If you want to spend an extended amount of time in Dallas, then we’d recommend that you head over to the nearby area surrounding Lake Park.

It’s a super idyllic spot, and is great for chilling out for a few days.

It’s only 30 minutes away from the center of Dallas, so you won’t struggle to get here either, as it’s super close by.

One of the most entertaining things that you can do here is partake in one of the golf courses. It’s 18 holes, so you can spend a few hours enjoying the game.

If golf isn’t your thing, and you want to partake in something a little more physical, then we would recommend that you head off to one of their playing fields.

They have everything from a baseball field, to a soccer field, a softball field, and a football field, whatever kind of sport you enjoy, they’ll be able to accommodate you here.

There’s also smaller sporting areas that are suitable for children too.

If you don’t feel like playing sports, then don’t worry, there is an expansive beach area nearby that you can enjoy whilst you take a break away from it all.

9. Crystal Beach

When you visit Crystal Beach, you’ll understand why it has its name.

It’s got crystal clear waters that are beautiful to gaze into, and look absolutely stunning as the sun sets.

It’s actually known as being the closest white sandy beach to Dallas, so if you just want to head over for a few hours, it’s super easy to do so.

It’s very family friendly, and you can enjoy participating in activities such as shell collecting, or sending out little sailboats.

You’ll notice that the waters are also super gentle, which is great if you have smaller children

To sum up, although Dallas isn’t generally regarded as being a hotspot for beaches, there are actually a whole host of gorgeous ones that you can visit during your stay.
